Contortion (contortionist) is an unusual form of physical display which involves the dramatic bending and flexing of the human body and an incredible sense of balance. Like other visual arts, a contortion performance can convey any of several emotions, depending on the choreography and costumes. Performers might choose a style that is beautiful, athletic, weird, sensual, erotic or humorous. Contortion may be incorporated into other types of performances: acrobatic dance, box, aerial act, contortion with props: spinning hula hoops or juggling rings, balancing towers of wine glasses, or playing a musical instrument, inside stage or water sphere.
